Penyrenglyn Fire

On Wednesday morning much excitement was created in the above neighbourhood by an alarm of fire at the shop of Mr. David Davies, grocer. It seemed that the soot in one of the chimneys caught fire, and the fire ignited some of the timber of the roof projecting into the chimney.

The whole of the roof was soon enveloped in smoke, and it was expected every moment that the whole place would burst into flames. Inspector Thomas and a party of officers quickly reached the spot in charge of the Treherbert hose and reel, and soon “deluged” the roof with water, extinguishing the fire.
